1. Tell me a little bit about you, who is Carlee outside of work?

I am a friend, sister and wifey. My favorite pastime is traveling and exploring new cultures and countries. You can find me drinking coffee, biking, working in my studio or eating Thai food.

2. What do you do for work?

Florist & Event Stylist at Rusted Vase Floral Co.

3. As a female, what are some of the biggest obstacles you have faced within your industry?

Overall, I feel like the wedding and events industry probably has one of the highest woman owned business ratios. It is an inclusive and community based industry and for that I am very grateful.

 4. What women in your life inspire you and why?

My Grandma(s), Sister, Mom, Friends and SO many of my fellow female business owners. My list is so long! Also, AOC -- she is a CHAMPION for women and underrepresented communities. I really believe women can and will change the world.

5. What advice would you give to women who want to pursue a new life direction -- whether that be moving to a new city, pursuing a new career path, starting a side hustle or choosing a new major in school?

Trust your gut! If you are not happy, make a change. Change is scary as hell, but you will never regret making a change or taking a leap of faith.

6. How do you balance a job, personal life and passions? Is there such a thing as balance?

There is such a thing as balance! You absolutely have to set boundaries for things like "office hours" and taking time off. I delete Instagram and my email app from my phone about once a month. It helps me disconnect fully and take a mental break for a few days. This is something over time I have learned to do. It wasn't easy in the beginning to turn off, but I am getting better.... a work in progress!

 7. What are some ways you implement self-care?

Travel, biking, massage, going for walks. Spending time with friends being active; hiking, snowshoeing, etc.

8. What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders, movers and shakers?

Be you, do you, for you. Work hard, follow your dreams. That dream job can be yours! Stay true to yourself, and never try to fit in or follow trends just because, be true to yourself.

9. How can women advocate for each other?

Female friendships whether personal or professional are some of the most powerful and supportive types of relationships in the world. We can be better advocates for each other by speaking out and standing up for one another. If something doesn't feel right, say something. There are so many ways to support and advocate for one another whether that's a click of a button, a message of support, phone call, or marching alongside each other.

10. What is your power color and why?

Blue (all shades). It reminds me of the ocean and water's endless power.

11. What is your female anthem – the song that hypes you up and makes you feel like a girl boss and that you can take on anything in the world?

Stevie Nicks -- Edge of Seventeen or Fleetwood Mac -- Dreams
