Fall activities and road trips you can safely enjoy during COVID-19

Happy first day of fall, friends! Fall is by far my favorite season and although the season will be very different this year due to COVID-19, there are still some fall activities that we can experience while remaining safe and socially distanced. First and foremost! This blog post is meant to serve as inspiration for things you can do inside the safety of your home, virtually with friends and family, in a small group with those who are also socially distancing or within your own vehicle for road trips. Please prioritize the health and safety of yourself, your loved ones and your community! Please continue to stay socially distanced, wear a mask and wash your hands!

10 activities you can do this fall during COVID-19:

1. Go to an apple u-pick!

A lot of local u-pick farms are prioritizing social distancing measures by limiting the amount of people that can visit and closing public enclosed areas. Visit u-pick websites before visiting to ensure you’re aware of their regulations and how they are abiding by CDC guidelines. Here are my favorite u-picks near the Seattle area:

Bellewood Acres: Every Wednesday-Sunday in September & October 9am-5pm.

Swans Trail Farm: The apple orchard opens Wednesday September 16th. Open 10 am-6pm daily while supplies last. No pre-order tickets are needed for apple picking!

2. Join a wine club!

The Pantry in Ballard is offering a wine club - you can do a monthly pick-up or become a member. Your wine will be available for pick-up in Ballard on the 28th of every month.

"Once a month, you’ll pick up four bottles selected by our in-house sommelier, JANET BEEBY, paired with seasonal recipes from our Pantry chefs. We’re focusing on small wine producers and farmers who use agriculturally sensitive techniques both in the vineyard and in production, and who make affordable, unique, and high-quality wines. Every month’s selection will be different, but you can expect a mix of bubbles, rosé, white, and red.”

3. Watch Halloween movies.

4. Get pumpkins and put your carving/decorating skills to the test!

5. Make homemade cider! Here are a few of my go-to recipes:

6. Go on a walk / hike to soak up fall foliage. Socially distanced (of course!) and if you’re able, weekdays are far less busy than on weekends.

A few of my local favorites: Kubota Gardens, Gold Creek Pond, Discovery Park Loop Trail, Green Lake Park, Snoqualmie Falls

7. Cook fall recipes! You can view my favorite fall recipes in my All Things Fall Pinterest board.

8. Rent a cozy cabin (solo or with those you are socially distancing with!)
