As many of you know, fall is my favorite season. It's that time of year where the food and fall-inspired beverages just taste better, the air smells cleaner and the fashion just looks better - yes, I'm a sucker for fall fashion and every year I get so excited with what trends come to fruition. I guess it's safe to say, I've fall-en in love with fall, but really, no pun intended.

Several weeks ago, I shared a post about my visit to the new Purpose Boutique that opened up at Point Ruston. I scored so many cute pieces from my styling session with Gia and I'm finally sharing one of my go-to looks for fall using the pieces from Purpose!

This outfit is all about my 3 keys to success for fall fashion: Layers, Pattern and Comfort. Let me do a break down of this outfit and where these three keys come into play.

Layers: I don't let these brisk fall days scare me off from wearing a dress or skirt - I'm happy to show off some leg, but that just means I'll have to balance out the rest of my outfit with some layers. In this outfit, I am wearing my Purpose Boutique off the shoulder blouse that is one of my favorites! It will be hard to say goodbye to this top in the winter until warmer weather comes. It's such a fun statement piece with the bell sleeves, exposed shoulders with complimentary bowties at the shoulder and a button-up back. This top really has it all!

To help keep me warm, I'm wearing my new distressed denim jacket courtesy of Purpose Boutique that has been in constant rotation this fall. I'd been on the look-out for a new denim jacket that was the perfect length and just the right amount of distress and wash, and this is the one! I love the distressing on the sleeves. I ended up getting a medium because I like my denim jackets to be on the larger side for layering over sweaters. It gives me the perfect amount of layering on days that aren't freezing but also aren't super warm.

I have been mastering my tuck-in top method this fall and it's one of my favorite layering techniques. In this case, I've tucked the front of my blouse into my Zara mini skirt and it shows off more of the skirt and adds a little intrigue to the front of my look.

Pattern: Speaking of this mini skirt, this brings me to the next key to success when dressing for fall. Pattern is one of my must-haves for fall, in fact, pattern-mixing is also one of my favorite trends for every season but in this outfit, I kept pattern to more of a minimum. I wanted to tie in all the colors of this outfit which really had more of a neutral/natural color palette going. This floral skirt is one of my favorites for fall because of the textile - it really brings out the colors of my denim jacket, blouse and accessories (my Toms slip-ons, Sugar Fix by Bauble Bar statement necklace and Melie Bianco bamboo clutch included!)

Lastly, let's talk comfort. This is one I'm trying to embrace the older I get. Whether it's splurging on a comfortable and reliable pair of shoes or just being comfortable with the way I style a look - comfort is really the glue that holds your outfit together. Each piece that makes up this outfit is one I can confidently wear and feel comfortable in - the key to building a fall wardrobe is purchasing pieces that you can mix and match with and are ones you can wear for hours on end - these Toms slip on wedge booties for example, were a pair of shoes I never wanted to take off during my styling session at Purpose. They are so comfortable and go with so many of my outfits (I love wearing them with cute raw hem denim!)

I fall more in love with fall fashion because it's the time of year that I feel confident in trying new trends and experimenting with how I want to style an outfit around weather and what I'm up to.
