It's all in the details this fall

It's officially fall and I'm so excited! Fall is my favorite time of the year for fashion - bring on the layers, color palette and details that come with fall clothing and accessories. It's been a work in progress getting my fall staples back into rotation with colder weather in sight (despite this week's 81 degree day - holy cow, is it still summer!?)

This fall, I'm loving overly detailed pieces. This Zara top for instance, is one of my favorite purchases from summer. The top I'm wearing is no longer featured on Zara's website, but I found a similar top here. I was immediately drawn to the floral print and deep fall colors - red is all the rage this season so I loved the red floral pops in this top! The front bow is also one of my favorite details! You can leave it loosely tied (as I have done here in this styled look) or you can show off a full bow tie - it's up to you! The collar of this top brings out pops of white at the neckline and at the wrists - another fun detail on the arm of this blouse is the pearls! To be honest, I didn't discover the pearls until I tried this top on in the dressing room. Subtle details like this make me happy.

A top like this is so easy to dress up or dress down. I've worn this top with a white skirt and boots, a pair of jeans and heels and in this outfit, paired with leather leggings from Nordstrom. Whenever I'm purchasing a statement piece like this, I always think to myself "how can I style this item differently in three different ways?" Statement pieces can be fun but for the money, it's important to feel like you can wear them in a variety of ways.

To further extrapolate on my love for details this fall, I'm wearing my brand new Topshop white studded heels I scored from Nordstrom for $50 (50% off!) Although I won't be able to wear these shoes on rainy days - I'm taking advantage of wearing them as often as I can when the sun is out. They have a chunky heel so they give me support when I'm wearing them and I can't get over the metallic stud detailing! These heels compliment my outfit nicely with the pops of white in my top (I am a firm believer white after Labor Day is a must!) and go great with a pair of leather leggings or jeans.

Now that it's fall, I'm bringing out my favorite handbags to show off this season. As I mentioned, red is a color that is hot, hot, hot this fall so any chance I can get to show it off is a must! Luckily, this Coach satchel crossbody in oxblood does the perfect trick! I love the deep red color of the leather and the size of this bag - excellent for work, date night or when I'm on the go during the weekend. This purse will be in constant rotation this fall...you've been warned.

Lastly, makeup is one detail of an outfit that should not be overlooked this fall. A bold lip, smokey eye or extra coat of mascara is the perfect way to add a little drama to your look. I'm wearing a new lip color from The Stell by Kosas - the shade is Darkroom, a perfect vampy color for day or evening.
