Giddy about gingham

I was wondering how long it would take me to cave and write a post about my love for gingham, and guess what, it didn't take long! If you're partial to the picnic table-inspired pattern then you too will agree that gingham is the transitional print you need in your closet!

Gingham is the perfect summer print suited for all occasions: work and leisure. In fact, I like mixing it up for both, especially if you score a neutral colored print.

My J. Crew gingham t-shirt dress is an absolute score at the moment (this specific style is currently on sale at J. Crew Factory stores and on Poshmark). I love transitional styles for fall especially when the weather is too cold for an off the shoulder but too warm for bulky fall knits. A t-shirt dress will always be a win in my book for versatility and comfort. The pattern itself is a bolder gingham covering the entire dress in its monochrome hue. I do love a good seasonal monochrome because that means you have endless options when it comes to accessorizing and pumping up the color in the form of handbags, jewelry and shoes!

In this specific end of summer look, I've paired my gingham dress with my Zara metallic oxfords which are going to be my shoes of choice for fall. Metallics are hot, hot, hot at the moment and these mirrored shoes make the perfect statement in any look and make great alternatives to heels or wedges when you're wearing a dress.

Let's talk accessories - as if I could jump off the J. Crew train after I spotted this dress. Insert: J. Crew statement necklace. I've been dying to splurge on a statement necklace from J. Crew for a while now since they always have the best options but I just couldn't seem to pull the trigger. It wasn't until I triple-checked the price tag that this was indeed 40% off and I couldn't resist! I love the pink, blues and corals in this necklace mixed with the metallics and gold chain and the way it pops against my bold gingham print. I'll definitely be finding new ways to style this beauty all year long! To play up the color within my necklace, my hot pink Kate Spade crossbody is added to the mix. This bag may be a few years old but is never going on the back burner, especially in the summer. I'll use this crossbody any chance I can get when I'm striving for a pop of color in my look.

When you're transitioning summer pieces to fall, it really comes down to how you choose to style these wardrobe pieces. I'm a huge fan of throwing on a floppy hat since I practically live in hats the entire duration of fall, so this look called for a black Rag & Bone hat that complimented my entire outfit but also resembles more of a fall vibe.

Fall is my favorite season for weather, styling and activities here in Seattle! I'm eager to celebrate the last bit of summer before we move into the fall months and needless to say, I'll be bringing my gingham with me!

PS. Can we talk about how cool this wall mural is?! Karya introduced me to this wall located on Western Avenue near Pike Place Market during our blog photoshoot and it is one of my favorites in the city! So vibrant and a must for capturing some Instagram-worthy photos!
