Whidbey Island Day Guide

I visited Whidbey Island last weekend with one of my best friends for a girls day and I'm surprised to say it was my first time visiting this adorable town! We decided to make a whole day of it so we hit the road early to catch a ferry from Mukilteo over to the island. I highly recommend catching an early ferry on the weekends because it gets fairly busy later throughout the day.

We went into the day with not much of agenda besides brunch and some wine tasting in the afternoon. I'd received some amazing recommendations from friends and coworkers (thank you everyone!) of places to check out primarily in the Langley and Coupeville parts of the island.

We ventured over to Knead & Feed for brunch in Coupeville and discovered that even showing up at 10:30am we found this to be quite the popular breakfast spot with a killer view. During our wait for a table, we took the time to explore some nearby shops. But the wait was worth it for the delicious eggs and french toast!

After brunch, we ventured over to the Lavender Wind Farm to get some lavender bouquets and sip on some lavender lemonade -- which is so refreshing on a warm day! The festival features a labyrinth made out of lavender, arts and crafts tables, live music and food and beverages. Tina and I each got a bouquet to bring home and I am loving how wonderful my apartment smells! After a few more days keeping my bouquet in a vase, I'll hang it up to dry it out and have for keeps! It makes for such a great souvenir.

After we left the fields we decided to mosey down to Langley before hopping on our ferry home for some wine tasting -- a must when you come to the island! I was referred to the Spoiled Dog Winery and if you're a dog lover like me, it's the place for you. We were greeted by the winery's dog/mascot Sammy, an adorable Australian Shepard we got to play with during our tasting. We were able to try some wine flights and homemade cheese all while soaking in the sunshine and lovely scenery of the vineyard. Many of the other people there brought their dogs which was a fun perk to drink wine and play with puppies!

The last spot we visited before catching the ferry was Blooms WineryWe were craving a cheese platter and some wine so we decided to share a wine flight and enjoy some local cheese off the menu. We also loved the air-conditioning!

I highly recommend Whidbey Island for a weekend getaway. We had a blast making this a summer girls trip and to be honest, it felt a little bit like we were on a mini vacation since it takes a boat ride to get you on and off the island. There's so much beauty on this island to see and explore that I hope to make another trip back soon to add to my list!
