Saturday's at the art museum

Sometimes, you just need those solo adventures that give you a little hint of perspective. This past Saturday I decided to venture over to the Seattle Art Museum to check out the latest exhibition by Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic. Not only is his artwork breathtaking in size and detail but I so appreciate the message behind each piece as he reworks the grand portrait to incorporate and showcase self-empowerment. I highly recommend checking out this gallery display. I came away not only feeling inspired but provoked to find more examples of self-empowerment within the art world.

Here are some of my favorite pieces from the exhibition:

I also decided to wander through the rest of the museum since it had been a while since I'd visited. I'm so proud to live in a city that showcases such amazing artists and pieces. A Saturday at the art museum is always a Saturday well-spent!
