Bring on the burgundy

Fall is my favorite time of year. I'm such a sucker for the colors, the layers and all of the various fashion trends. This is my second autumn as a brunette (for those that don't know, I am a natural blonde and before dying my hair I had platinum blonde hair). As a result, I've had so much fun the last two seasons integrating new colors into my wardrobe that compliment my darker, moodier hair color.

I've also been having so much fun trying out more stylized looks this fall which is why, when I recently collaborated with makeup and hair artist Sophie of Hutch Artistry and local photographer Jessica Whitaker on a styled shoot, we aimed to achieve a moody look through the use of color in the outfit and makeup.

Sophie helped me achieve the dramatic look I was going for by enhancing my eye makeup and defining my cheek bones and lips. I also love the gold accents under my eyes and the rich color of my lips that really inspired my outfit as a whole and really helped compliment the shades of red within my look.

This outfit is truly inspired from the red lip and one of my favorite fall colors this year: burgundy. I love wearing warmer, red shades this fall especially a color that I strayed away from as a blonde. I scored this burgundy turtleneck from Nordstrom during the NPG sale and it's the most lightweight and comfortable turtleneck I own. It's also long enough that you can get away with wearing it over leggings or pants -- which is a huge score! In fact, I'm wearing it over my favorite pair of leather leggings from Nordstrom which are also extremely comfortable and the right amount of subtle detail I love. My leather Jessica Simpson rider boots from Nordstrom also help compliment the leather in my leggings and are the best shoes for those unexpected Seattle days consisting of rain and shine.

The foundation of this fall look provides plenty of opportunities when it comes to accessorizing.  I'm wearing my new plaid wrap around scarf courtesy of FilsonI love the length of this scarf and the options of wearing it tied or draped.

For feminine accents, I'm wearing my favorite gold hoop statement earrings from Nordstrom that make for a great statement piece. My Rag & Bone black floppy hat is the final touch to this look and helps bring out the darker tones of my scarf, pants and boots.
