1. Tell me a little bit about you, who is Regina outside of work?

I am a friend, solo walker, writer, director, musician, and constant creator of reality show concepts that I dream of making and go nowhere. I have always felt grateful that I am able to deeply entertain myself, but especially now during the pandemic. I'm usually working on multiple projects at a time, but in true gemini fashion, I don't finish all of them. But they're all fun! And I'm happy with the ones I do finish.

2. What do you do for work?

I am a Senior Copywriter writing scripts and ads for social media and TV.

3. As a female, what are some of the biggest obstacles you have faced within your industry / the workplace or within the education system?

There are so few women in creative roles in advertising. If the status quo is men, everytime you create something that is different, you face more obstacles to get it greenlit and it sucks up a lot of energy. And I'm a straight-passing white woman! It's gotten better over the years but there are still so many boys club elements to the industry. I will say though that my favorite thing I learned when I transitioned from my 20's to my 30's is just in the moment calling it out more.

 4. What women in your life inspire you and why?

I sat here for five minutes basically writing down every woman I know. Every woman in my life inspires me in some way, I'm not joking! But some celebrities who inspire me are Abbi Jacobson, Issa Rae, Erin Gibson, AOC, Lindy West, Alishia McCullough, and so many drag queens.

5. What advice would you give to women who want to pursue a new life direction -- whether that be moving to a new city, pursuing a new career path, starting a side hustle or choosing a new major in school?

Spend some time learning how to give yourself grace before you do the big jump to whatever it is. Things won't go perfectly, and the last thing you want to do is turn inward and blame yourself. You need all that energy to propel you forward!

6. How do you balance a job, motherhood, personal life and passions? Is there such a thing as balance?

Oh it's hard!! But one thing for me that feels really good is keeping up on my routine. If I do all the things that keep me mentally balanced and happy, there is so much more space for me to do the things I actually love to do. I'm also insanely organized with my time. I journal every day and every Sunday I make a set of goals from small to big to do that week. I try to make sure every week I am getting enough social time, productive time, alone time, and veg out time. It's not meant to be rigid, I'm still very adaptable, it's just to help me have parameters so I don't end up totally losing myself. Honestly, a big part of me wants to just binge TV and lay on the couch all night, but I know that would never fulfill me.

 7. What are some ways you implement self-care?

I must walk every day. Or at least almost every day. Working out is great too, both activities just help clear my mind. I also love reading a good book, watching a lot of TV, ordering delivery, and talking to myself in the mirror.

8. What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders, movers and shakers?

Question everything. Just because you were taught something doesn't mean it's true.

9. What advice would you give to women trying to break into a male-dominated field or an industry where there aren’t as many female leaders?

Don't let the barriers stop you. It might be exhausting and soul crushing at times, but if nothing else, it's possible the hurdle will get you that much closer to finding your voice. And hey, that's pretty cool, right? Plus we need you!!!

10. How can women advocate for each other?

Speaking up to support each other. Even if there are less of us, when we speak up together, it's easier to be heard.

11. What is your power color and why?

There is a shade of blue that makes me feel insane. Everytime I see it, I have to stop and stare. There are so many photos in my phone of random objects or stairways painted this color. It's like a midnight blue but deep and also changes in the light? I don't know what it is, but it's perfect and magical and I wish I could tattoo it on me but then I fear I'd never get anything done. I would just stare at it all day.

12. What is your female anthem – the song that hypes you up and makes you feel like a girl boss and that you can take on anything in the world?

Truly anything by Lizzo.
