An evening at The Smith Tower

If there is one thing I love about Seattle it is the history that surrounds us here in the city. Each neighborhood has its unique vibe and background. One of my favorite neighborhoods I'm still getting acquainted with is Pioneer Square. The architecture in Pioneer Square is stunning! Old buildings you see in 1900's postcards of Seattle are renovated into modern options for dining, happy hours, soaking in views of the city and shopping.

A cultural icon that stands out in this neighborhood is the Smith Tower, the first skyscraper in Seattle and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River in 1914. This historic beauty hosts tenants, tourists and visitors from all over and as of last year it offers guests an entirely new visitor experience! You can now visit the Smith Tower's historical exhibit, ground-floor (supplied with drinks/food and souveniers) as well as the Observatory supplied with a prohibition-styled Temperance Bar and 360-degree view observation deck.

Tickets can be purchased online or in store and you have the option to purchase the Straight Up By Night or The Legends of The Smith Tower ticket. Straight Up tickets take you directly up to the Observatory to soak in the view, grab food and a drink and relax!

My boyfriend Tristan and I meandered through the exhibit before making our way up to the Observatory. It was fun to see all the various historical items in each room truly proving that this place is indeed a local legend.

Once we got to the top we roamed the observation deck to soak in full view of the city at night. I definitely want to come back here during a sunset! After we endured the cold and took a handful of photos, we grabbed a table inside and indulged in some food and beverages. I opted for a refreshing cucumber-accented drink, The Dry Squad while Tristan sipped on Autumn in New York. Both the perfect pairing for a scenic view and evening. There's also quite the food selection on the menu with lots of great options to choose from! We tried out the hamachi which was a fun dish with a bit of a kick (topped with jalapeΓ±o).

This spot sets the perfect mood for great conversation with its intimate yet comfortable setting. If you're looking for a place that encapsulates the history of Seattle and one that offers one of the best views of the city to date, I highly recommend visiting the Smith Tower whether you are a local or a visitor, it's a must.

* A huge S/O to Smith Tower for collaborating for West Coast Aesthetic's travel guide.
