Isn’t it funny, how our personal style evolves over time? To think five years ago my wardrobe was dominated by black, white and grey. Color was minimal, rare, a little daunting. Tristan is convinced that a red dress I introduced into my wardrobe is what did it, tipped me over the edge and let the color flow. That might have been it. It also might be the fact Seattle tends to embrace a minimal, refined palette and I wanted to stand out. I still own a lot of elevated basics and neutrals, but ever since that fateful day five years ago when I purchased a red dress, I haven’t really looked back since.

Color makes me feel powerful, bold, unique and alive. No matter the season, there’s always a reason for colorful pieces that can make any day a little bolder and brighter. Thanks to my friends at Conditions Apply located across the pond in the Shoreditch neighborhood of London, I was able to style a dress that embodies quite literally every color of the rainbow. I didn’t think it was possible to love a dress this much!

This maxi turns heads with its colorful pattern, Marilyn Monroe-inspired flow and flattering detailing — have subtle sleeve slits ever looked this elevated?

I’ve had so much fun styling this dress for work or play — versatility is a must for me when it comes to styling. I paired this maxi with some of my most prized possessions of summer: Boohoo chunky Spice Girl sandals that I’ve been practically living in all summer, my GIRLS clutch from Amazon Fashion and my Emeldo statement earrings.

So here we are, folks. Five years later and I’m throwing about as much color into an outfit as I can and I am still loving the challenge! Are you a color lover? How did you start integrating color into your wardrobe?

PS) A huge shout-out to the friendly stranger who let Jenna and I shoot INSIDE his vintage, 1960’s Volkswagen Bug for these photos! It made this shoot so fun and memorable!
