Staycation at The Charter Hotel Seattle

Staycation - can I admit this may be one of my favorite pastimes? Recently, Tristan and I were able to do just that at the Seattle-based Charter Hotel, a Curio Collection by Hilton. I’m still trying to pick out my favorite part of our hotel stay but I’m not quite sure I can choose. From the comfortable bed and hotel robe, luxurious room with breathtaking city views, accommodating staff, marble bathroom supplied with an incredible soaker tub, delicious restaurant and bar on site…the list goes on.

My favorite part about a staycation is not having to stray too far from home to experience the luxury of hotel life. Sometimes you just need to hit the reset button and treat yourself to an evening away. After a crazy last few weeks helping plan my best friend’s proposal, gearing up to travel for work and taking on creative projects every weekend, it felt amazing to check into the hotel with no agenda beyond eating, drinking and relaxing! Now that’s my kind of weekend.

A prime location: The Charter Hotel is located on 2nd Avenue — an ideal location if you’re wanting to be in a central spot in the city of Seattle. Close to Pike Place Market, Pacific Place and an affordable rideshare away from the other neighborhoods within Seattle.

For the city dweller: Due to its central location downtown, The Charter embraces that cool, city vibe. The sleek exterior greets you from the street corner and continues inside, all the way into your hotel room. From elegant decor to the wood finishes, you instantly feel like you’re living that modern city dweller lifestyle. Despite the rainy weather when we checked in, the floor to ceiling windows in our room brought in so much light! Our one-bedroom suite was spacious and perfect for two. We had a dining area, living room space (supplied with a sofa and HDTV), walk in closet, modern bedroom with views of Elliott Bay and a marble bathroom supplied with a soaker tub and shower. Tristan and I LOVE the modern/industrial vibe, so this hotel’s aesthetic was right up our alley.

Foodies listen up: We enjoyed some R&R in our room before dressing up for our dinner at Patagōn, the hotel’s Argentine-inspired restaurant on the first floor. If you’re a meat lover, this dinner menu is for you! They also have a variety of pasta and vegetable dishes. We were seated with a prime view of the kitchen so we were able to see the smoked meats and smell the aromas of just about every meal being made (including the fresh churros!) We kicked off our dinner with beverages and empanadas for an appetizer and opted for meat dishes: Tristan went for the New York Strip and I went for the Short Ribs (pro tip: share these, the portion is huge) with vegetables as our sides. We of course had to save room for the fresh churros and dark chocolate — because, yum! Tristan and I loved the food so much we ended up going back in the morning for breakfast, which was also delicious! I highly recommend this dining experience for a date night or ladies brunch.

Need a night cap?: After dinner we meandered up to Fog Room on the 16th floor for our reservation to enjoy a night cap. I definitely plan on coming back here in the summer to soak up the rooftop view and indulge in happy hour on the patio. The lounge was lively on a Saturday evening so reservations seem like a smart choice. The evening menu consists of cocktails and small bites — I opted for the Last Chapter which was a creamy and rich coffee beverage which also consisted of alcohol and a whole egg. Tristan opted for the Kingslayer: bourbon, vermouth, bitters and topped with a lemon twist.

Hotel life: When we got back to our room I decided to end the evening with a bath in the soaker tub. It was the most relaxing way to end the night before hopping into a cozy hotel bed (what is it about those hotel beds that are just THE BEST?!) Although we only stayed for one night, it was truly the best 24-hours to soak in the experience that The Charter offers. Hotel life is THE LIFE.

I’d highly recommend our staycation experience at The Charter to anyone looking for a hotel that embraces luxury down to every single detail from check in to check out. Whether you’re looking to book a staycation or visiting from out of town, The Charter should be at the top of your list!
