PALM SPRINGS: The Pink Door
It's about time I started sharing some of our amazing photos from our See You in the Desert creative photoshoot from April. This shoot was a defining creative project for me because it allowed me to pursue my love for styling and creative directing all while working with such a talented team!

A little background on this project -
Jenna and I had a vision in 2015 to take on a creative project of our own that pushed our boundaries and challenged us in all of the best ways. Our goal was to achieve a fashion editorial end-result all while staying true to our aesthetic. With that, the project See You in the Desert was born.
We wanted it to be bold and funky with color/shadow/pattern play. We chose Palm Springs because there are so many fun spots to shoot there that followed suit to our project's vision. We completed this shoot in the course of two solid and hot (90 degree) days. And it has been the launching pad for projects I am pursuing, working on and dreaming of to this day.
What made this different from any other shoot in Palm Springs?
Jenna and I wanted this to be a collaboration with creatives. We'd never seen this done before in this location -- multiple models in group and individual editorial-inspired shots in various locations and styled in various ways (especially when it came to clothing, accessories and props). Typically, in pre-Coachella shoots it is just one blogger taking generic festival-inspired shots in Joshua Tree or around Palm Springs. Don't get me wrong, these shots still look awesome, but we wanted this to be out of the box and something we could see in a magazine spread or look book.
We worked with an amazing floral designer (of Violette's Flowers) to achieve amazing pieces for a floral crown, hair piece and bouquet and collaborated with an LA-based prop shop (Circa) to help add some extra flare to our shoot.
Since this shoot took place in Palm Springs/Palm Desert and Joshua Tree in California, this shoot was a challenge in that we had to plan and collaborate with creatives that lived out of state on top of location scouting out of state (Jenna and I are both in Seattle.) However, at the end of the day, it somehow all came together and I could not be more thrilled with how our hard-work, planning and creative vision shined through in this shoot.
Here is the start to this highlighting series of See You in the Desert and some of my favorite images from some of my favorite shoot locations. Enjoy!
